M&S Xmas advert destroys the oldest gender stereotype

M&S Xmas advert destroys the oldest gender stereotype

Whilst everyone geared up for John Lewis' annual advertorial offering on the alter of Christmas, one brand name has seemingly stolen the limelight.

Marks&Spencer has turned one of the most stereotypical Christmas traditions on its head, putting Mrs Claus at the centre of the show. Normally portrayed as a somewhat dumpy, matronly and downtrodden figure, M&S shows Mrs Claus as a stylish and technologically able businesswoman, who saves Christmas for one young boy.

The advert has already been hailed as groundbreaking, diverse and a symbol of the marketing world's slow building appreciation for gender equality - but we won't ruin the ending for you.

Take a look at the advert below, and let us know what you think.
