President-elect and Twitter enthusiast, Donald Trump has somehow become more famous for his social media accounts than his politics. And whilst the majority of Trump’s tweets seem conducive to his future position as leader of the free world, unfortunately some of them are decidedly more confused. And offensive.
But love him or hate him, Trump does have the power to send shockwaves through the business world – as seen when he tweeted about the cost for Boeing to build an Air Force One which made the company’s stock take a downturn.
In response to this, one company has created an app which actually notifies investors if Trump tweets about a company they are interested in. Crafted by Trigger Finance, the app – dubbed Trigger – sends off notifications if there is a change in market indicators – LA Times reports.
The publication explained how some business leaders admit that their own PR staff are awake and ready at 3am every morning in case Trump should send out another tweet.
"When he tweets, the market moves," she commented. "Our users see this as an investment opportunity and a way for them to manage their portfolio risk. Tweets really do matter.”
The impact of Trump’s tweets on the world have yet to be properly monitored – though I’m sure we’ll have plenty of opportunity to do so when he rises to power at the end of the month.
